From Personal Stories to Practical Tips: Budget-Friendly Lifestyle
If you have been here before, you might remember that my main niche was talking about my personal life, and interests, and sometimes ranting to the world. Still, I thought today that I should expand my niche and share a few tips and tricks about an area of interest that I happen to be quite good at; Budgeting and saving money. Today, I'd like to tell you some stories about my life and how budgeting helped me tremendously at every step, and then we can dig our way into the world of finance.
Budgeting is not as easy for everyone, some people are good with math and some aren't. Fortunately, even though math is not particularly one of my interests, it is indeed something that I'm good at. I started budgeting when I turned 22, it was around the time when I created a small home business to make ends meet. Back then I used to write down all the income and expenses on a notebook of mine and sum the numbers up at the end of each month.
Having an organized budgeting plan, allowed me to spend my money in the areas that I desired and also enabled me to save enough for things that were a bit harder to get. In 2 years of my small home business, I went from 20 bucks in my bank account to around 2000. Although the amount wasn't significant, I could at least afford to buy clothes, take my friends out for dinner, and even pay to register for a private course (which I always wanted to explore).
A little bit of background as to why 2000 was such an achievement for me. Well, I wasn't poor, but I was poor enough, poor to the point of being evicted by the landlords because we weren't able to afford rent, poor to the point of eating less on one meal to be able to eat on other days, and poor to the point of having to wear torn clothes and stitching it up because we weren't able to afford new clothes very often.
Although one might think that must have been traumatizing, I'd like to see the glass half-full. These experiences made me an independent woman who knows the value of hard-earned money. I have seen the end of the barrel and I refuse to see that again. So I would try my best to manage my income and have some savings for the rainy day.
In my future blog posts, I will teach you how to budget even the smallest amount of money you have, save money for the future, and also since I am planning to earn more money, find and share different ways to increase your income.
