The Eternal Tenant-part 6

In that moment, I don't know what happened...I rushed toward Henry, I didn't know what I was gonna do, I just acted on instinct. suddenly, a rush of energy rose inside of me, I felt like I'm a superhuman...super ghost. I could sense the power coursing through my veins, if that makes any sense. I wasn't acting normal, I ran much faster than I usually would, like a lightning bolt. It was like everything was in slow motion. I could see his finger pulling the trigger further and further but so slow. I reached him in a matter of milliseconds and somehow grabbed the gun before he could fully pull the trigger. Then a loud bang and...

The gun shot one bullet, a moment of silence. The bullet was shot at me while trying to save Henry, but you know what? there are perks to being a ghost, you can't die twice!

I threw the gun away and it went far from us in a dark side of the basement floor. Henry sat on the floor and started sobbing. "Why?? Why did you stop me? I could've saved you and my conscious both!", Henry said talking through the river of his tears. I replied: "I couldn't have let you do that, I can't sacrifice another soul for myself, even if it is you!". He kept sobbing for a minute, I was watching him in despair, silently, then he suddenly stopped, looked up in my eyes as if he was about to do another stupid move. In my head I was like "oh common man just let it go", but then he said this: "I might have found a solution...to this...problem, without getting anyone killed". "Henry please! don't give me hope when there's none...I have been through so much so far, I need a break" I said with a trembling voice overwhelmed by a feeling of sadness I couldn't begin to describe. How would you feel if you didn't belong? Not to the living and not to the dead? Dead enough to be a ghost but conscious of everything around you? When you're alive, they tell you that you don't feel anything when you're dead. No sadness, no pain, you just forget your past life and start a new one, but imagine you do die and feel all that, scary, right?

So even though I had lost all hope, I gathered all my courage and said to Henry one last time: "Tell me!".

"I'm no expert in these stuff, but I know someone who is. Remember the medium lady I told you about? She could communicate with the spirit world, so she might be able to find another way for you to pass the veil!" Henry said with a hint of excitement in his voice. I wasn't sure or hopeful about this but like I had any other choice! I agreed and then Henry immediately went after the medium. I waited around two hours, two of the longest hours of my lif...death, whatever this shit was.

Finally he came back, following him a middle aged woman in jeans, a simple t-shirt and a blue jacket. She seemed like a normal lady if she didn't have a bag full of candles and cards and other stuff I had no idea what they were. When she came inside, she was uneasy, she felt concerned as if she would never wanna be there voluntarily. Then she looked at her left and saw me sitting on the couch next to fireplace in the living room. Suddenly her facial expressions changed, as if...she'd...seen...a ghost?

"Hi I'm the ghost, nice to meet you!:)" I said with a smile trying to ease up the situation. But she didn't seem scared or uneasy, it seemed like she almost was impressed!

She dropped the bag on the floor and came slowly towards me with a face that seemed surprised in a good way. I was confused. She was looking at me like she's seen a family member that she hadn't seen in a long time. She sat down on the couch next to me and said "I'm Eveline, may I?", and then she reached her hand to touch my arm as if she wanted to know if I was truly a ghost. "By all means!" I said with confusion. She touched my arm and then took back her hand as if she'd seen something confusing, then turned back to Henry that was standing by the corridor the whole time and watching silently and said: "I don't think this is what you're thinking Henry.". She looked at me and continued: "I've never seen anything like this, just heard from my great grandmother who was a medium as well".

"What, what did you hear?" I said to Eveline trying to rush her to answer me. What she said next, sent chills down to my bones.

She said "You're not dead honey, you're very much alive..."
